Back Alley Brawl, 3/26/2017
Hey AAW fans! An illness in the locker room has been impacting our update schedule (we're pretty sure Lance is to blame -- he claims he caught it wrestling the entire city of Philadelphia?), but we’ve gotten some antibiotics in us and we're back with two weeks of Back Alley Brawl recaps!
Last week's Back Alley Brawl was all about the fallout from the controversial ending of COLOSSEUM. Marcus Smart and Sanguine Arcane were nowhere to be seen, Marcus due to his hospital stay and Sanguine due to more mysterious circumstances; however, Nero Santana and Section 14 would both make their presences felt.
Backstage, Nero Santana confronted Dale Andrews, blaming her and her "crooked refs" for Marcus Smart's disqualification victory. Dale cut Nero off, questioning why she would ever cooperate with Marcus and Section 14, and telling Nero to get ready because he has a match tonight to help him vent his frustrations.
Anna Masters vs. "Anarchy" Andrew Fawkes: The newly rechristened Anna took on Section 14's Head of Security in a back-and-forth affair that showcased Fawkes' power and Anna's mat acumen. Anna took control off a dodged clothesline into her Cross-Cutter, and it was all downhill for Fawkes from there, as a series of German suplexes ended with her cranking him into the Masterpiece for a tapout victory.
Nero Santana vs. "Cowboy" Whiskey Wisconsin: Wisconsin entered first, doing his little line-dancing routine, only for Nero to rush him while still on the ramp and give him a monkey flip into the barricade before rolling "Cowboy" into the ring. Wisconsin insisted he could continue when questioned by the ref, but there wasn't a lot of continuing to be done; other than a brief flurry of offense off a Lasso, this was all Nero, with the former champ grinding Wisconsin down with a series of suplexes, DDTs, and his Abraxas flapjack facebuster, rendering Wisconsin almost unconscious before hitting the Burning Fiddle for the pinfall.
After the match, Nero physically threw Wisconsin out of the ring, and nearly did the same the ref, before stealing Tom's mic and beginning to rail against Ace, Dale, and the entire roster, calling them all blind pawns of their smark darlings in Section 14, insisting that he is the only worthy champion, and that at DESTRUCTIVE IMPULSES, the April pay-per-view, he would either be getting a rematch or be crowned the new champion due to Marcus being unable to defend. He tried to continue, only for the broadcast to be cut out and replaced by a recorded monologue by Iggy Noble, announcing that Nero would not be receiving a title shot at DESTRUCTIVE IMPULSES, and would instead be facing Iggy! The broadcast cut back to the Wayward Inn and a confused, frustrated Tom Spiracy, and a furious Nero Santana stalking to the back.
Backstage, Dale argued with Ron "The Real Deal" Steele, who insisted that he would show Nero Santana what-for, not Iggy. Dale, already flustered, responded by agreeing with Ron: at DESTRUCTIVE IMPULSES, Ron will face Nero, with the winner becoming #1 contender to the AAW World Championship! But, tonight, Ron would face Iggy Noble – and if Iggy won, the match at DESTRUCTIVE IMPULSES would become a triple threat.
MAIN EVENT: Iggy Noble vs. Ron "The Real Deal" Steele. Noble and Steele put on an absolute clinic in the ring, with Iggy showing off his brutal striking as well as his ground game, and Ron showcasing his power and well-rounded technical arsenal. Ron managed to get out of the Firewall near the climax of the match, appeared to get the upper hand off of a dropkick and an exploder suplex, but Iggy prevented the Deal Breaker with a rake of the eyes right out of his boss's playbook, and brought Ron low with a backbreaker before putting him in the Black Ice for the submission. The main event at DESTRUCTIVE IMPULSES was officially a #1 contender's Triple Threat: Iggy Noble vs. Ron "The Real Deal" Steele vs. Nero Santana!
